Terms of Service
Effective: January 1, 2026
1. Acceptance
By installing or using TechStacker (the “Extension”) or signing up for a TechStacker Pro subscription (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t install the Extension or use the Service.
2. The Extension
TechStacker is a Manifest V3 browser extension that detects and catalogs third-party technologies running on websites you visit. The Free tier of the Extension is provided at no charge and is licensed for personal and commercial use. The Extension is provided “as is” and operates locally in your browser — we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
3. The Pro Service
Pro is a paid subscription service that adds:
- Master vendor definition push (delta sync)
- Access to the community submission queue
- Multi-machine license sync (up to 5 devices)
- Priority support
- Commercial use license
Pro is billed monthly or annually through Stripe. Prices are listed at tchstckr.com/pricing and may change with 30 days’ notice for existing subscribers. Pricing changes apply at your next renewal.
4. Subscriptions & renewals
Subscriptions auto-renew until you cancel. You can cancel anytime from your account page or by emailing billing@tchstckr.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. We do not issue partial refunds for mid-period cancellations — see our refund policy for the 7-day money-back guarantee.
5. License keys
Your Pro license key is for your use only. You may install the Pro-enabled Extension on up to 5 personal machines. Sharing license keys publicly or across organizations is a violation of these Terms. We reserve the right to revoke license keys used in violation of these Terms.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Extension (except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by applicable law)
- Use the Service to build a competing product
- Resell or sublicense access to the Service
- Submit vendor definitions to the community queue that you don’t have the right to share, that contain malicious code, or that are designed to fingerprint or harm end users
- Use the Service to violate any applicable law or regulation
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or related systems
7. The data you collect is yours
TechStacker operates on data captured from websites you visit. We make no claim of ownership over that data. You retain full ownership of any telemetry stored in your local IndexedDB. If you configure a webhook to a third-party endpoint, the data is yours and your recipient’s, not ours.
8. Submission queue & community content
When you submit a vendor definition to the community queue, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, modify, and distribute that definition as part of the master TechStacker vendor library. You retain ownership of the original submission. We will credit you (anonymously or with your attribution, at your choice) when your submission is approved.
9. Intellectual property
The Extension, the Service, the dashboard, the documentation, and the brand “TechStacker” are owned by us. The vendor definitions in the master library are licensed to Pro subscribers under the TechStacker Vendor Library License (free for personal/commercial use, no resale). You may not redistribute the master library as a standalone product.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
THE EXTENSION AND SERVICE ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE EXTENSION WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT IT WILL DETECT EVERY VENDOR ON EVERY SITE.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE EXTENSION OR SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS ($100). IN NO EVENT SHALL WE BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, demand, or damage arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party right.
13. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time. Upon termination, your license key is revoked and your Pro features are disabled, but your local IndexedDB data is unaffected.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced 30 days in advance by email (for Pro subscribers) and a banner in the Extension. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.
